The Detroit Marriott is a 73-story convention hotel, with two distinctive components, the Tower and the Podium. The Tower renovation is a complete core and shell renovation of 1,343 guestrooms. The Podium is a cosmetic renovation of the main lobby, conferencing centers, and amenities spaces.
Construction manager responsible for the field coordination of all guestroom renovation work. The renovation work included replacement of all fancoil unit and temperature controls, bathroom sink, toilet, and bathtub, upgrading the hotel fire alarm panel and associated detectors and alarms. The interior finish work included removal and replacement of all vinyl wall covering and carpet and draperies per the standard Marriott FF&E package, and ADA upgrades and code complaint work.
Project management work included review and approval of change orders estimates, change order processing, and monthly pay application / percentage completion reviews. With change orders includes responsibilities for tracking and schedule coordination of all changes plus maintaining of baseline schedule and reports to internal senior management and GM and Marriott ownership.

Renovate an existing 20 story, 250 room hotel into a Courtyard by Marriott. The project was completed in two phases while being fully occupied. Manager of ALL aspects of work from budget and schedule development and tracking, programming and scope reviews, bidding and awarding of architectural and GC contracts, construction management of project, through punchlist and close-out. All owner’s rep coordination and reporting was done for General Motors, the building owner, and Marriott Corporation the new hotel operator and partial financial partner of the project.
Phase I was the renovation of 250 guestrooms (new FF&E, lighting, phone switch and cable TV, sprinklers and smoke detectors, fan coil replacement, and guestroom redesign to meet ADA standards. Phase II was the renovation of the lobby, front desk, dining areas, bar, ballrooms/pre-function space, and health club and pool areas involving new FF&E package, new ceiling layout, mech/elec, sprinklers and smoke detectors, and hard wall construction.
